McLennan County Family Health Center

Services

  • Access to a physician, immunizations, laboratory and x-ray services, family planning services
  • Annual physical examination
    • Provided once per calendar year by a physician or a physician assistant, associated testing, such as mammograms, can be covered with a physician referral
  • Medical screening
    • Blood pressure, blood sugar, and cholesterol screening
  • Prescriptions service
    • Includes up to 3 prescription drugs per month. New and refilled prescriptions count equally toward the 3 prescription drugs per month total. A physician or other practitioner with the scope of practice must prescribe drugs under the law.
  • Inpatient Hospital Services
    • Must be medically necessary and provided in an acute care hospital to hospital inpatients, by or under the direction of a physician, and for the care and treatment of patients
  • Outpatient Hospital Services
    • Must be medically necessary and provided in an acute care hospital to hospital outpatients, by or under the direction of a physician, and must be diagnostic, therapeutic, or rehabilitative

  • Assistance with paying for prescirptions for chronically ill persons. Part of Medication Assistance Program (MAP).

  • Two different programs, depending on whether or not the patient has Medicare/Medicaid.
  • Psychiatric Services:

  • Available to patients who do not have access to specialty care. once a month, appt.

  • Physical Therapy & Occupational Therapy Services
  • Twice a month

  • Acute Care Medical Service
  • Every Tuesday and Thursday from 5pm to 7pm . Sign in starts at 4:30pm. First come first served
  • Ear, Nose , Nose and Throat
  • Once a month
  • A referral must be sent by their primary care provider . Appointment required
  • Available to patients who do not have access to speciality care.
  • Pulmonology Services
  • Once a month
  • A referral must be sent by the primary care provider . Appointment required .
  • Available to any patient who does not have access to specialty care.       
  • Chiropractic: 2 Tuesdays per month, must sign in by 5:20pm, first come first served
  • Vision: Every Tuesday between 5pm and 7pm, sign in starts at 4:30 . First come first served.
  • TB Testing: given Tuesday, read on Thursday

Requirements

  • Patients get signed in beginning at 4pm every Tuesday and Thursday evening, first come, first served. No immunizations, STD testing, labs, x-rays, or disability forms.
  • Only for patients without Medicare, Medicaid, or any other form of insurance and who are NOT established with FCH.

Services

  • Assists in finding medical services and health care
  • Dental
  • Prescription drug coverage
    • No narcotics
    • Generic prescriptions unless prescribed by physician
  • Preventative health care and treatments

  • Photo ID and Social Security Card
  • Applicants cannot be receiving coverage from any health insurance, Medicare or Medicaid
  • Prescriptions filled out at any HEB location in Waco or McLennan County
  • Bilingual assistance available

  • The Arc of Texas: The Arc of McLennan County is dedicated to expanding opportunities, care, and support for persons and families impacted by intellectual and developmental disabilities.

Heart of Texas Area Agency on Aging (AAAHOT)

Services

  • Provides access: to needed social services, effective screening and assessment of individual needs, and advocacy for older persons (age 60 and older) in our six-county region.
  • Access services are provided to older persons and their family members’ or other caregivers. Services provided directly by AAAHOT staff includes three core programs:
    • Benefits counseling, care coordination, and LTC ombudsman services

Services

  • Assistance with: medication for outpatient treatment drugs, treatment effects, pain control and symptom management
  • Also help with prescription copays, necessary medical travel, wound care items, ostomy and mastectomy supplies, garments, wigs, nutritional supplements, cancer care packs and more.

  • Must be a cancer patient and reside in McLennan County
  • Based on income at time of need (varies)
